You are about to explore one of the Eastern Shore's most historic and picturesque small towns, yet also the location of a 4,300-student University, the newly revitalized Washington Inn and Tavern and the home of modern, aerospace engineering. The Town of Princess Anne, named in honor of King George II's second daughter, was chartered in 1733. History and architecture buffs, antique lovers, gardeners, gourmets, and those seeking the authentic Eastern Shore will enjoy a visit to our quaint town, as will family members of students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), and entrepreneurs and shop keepers interested in locating in a business-friendly town.
Princess Anne Main Street was formed in 2007 in partnership with the Town, Chamber of Commerce, historical groups and UMES to create a vibrant place to live, shop and work, creating a lively sense of place. We are a designated Main Street Program of Maryland and the National Main Street Center. We look forward to your visit!
